NFL Week 7 Game Recap: Tennessee Titans 19, Indianapolis Colts 10

The Tennessee Titans didn’t score an offensive touchdown, but they still did enough to win by multiple scores against the Indianapolis Colts — the Titans’ primary competition in the AFC South coming into the week. Four Randy Bullock field goals and a standout defensive performance provided enough cushion for a 19-10 victory, pushing Tennessee to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the division through seven weeks.

Offensive spotlight: Matt Ryan relied on the quick, underneath passing game again in Week 7 to try to limit pressure. His 4.3-yard average depth of target was the lowest of the season, but he was still pressured on 16 of his 48 dropbacks. Those pressured dropbacks didn’t go well for the Colts’ offense. Ryan averaged 3.5 yards per attempt with two interceptions and three sacks taken on those plays.

Defensive spotlight: Titans’ safety Andrew Adams came into this game against Indianapolis with just two games played and 68 total defensive snaps, but he was the defensive standout with Amani Hooker playing more of a slot defender role. It wasn’t just the out route that Adams jumped for Tennessee’s only touchdown of the game. He also contributed multiple coverage stops and was the first contact defender on nine snaps — most in the game.

Rookie spotlight: Roger McCreary lined up outside on the majority of his snaps for the first time since Week 2 against Buffalo, and he got the job done out there against the Colts. McCreary allowed just three receptions for 28 yards on 45 coverage snaps on PFF’s initial review of the game. He added a forced incompletion on a pass breakup over the middle, as well.

Offensive line spotlight: This game featured two of the league’s best running backs in Derrick Henry and Jonathan Taylor, but neither had much room to run. Both offenses averaged fewer than four rushing yards per attempt, and neither Indianapolis nor Tennessee cracked one yard before contact per run. Three of the Titans’ five starters up front earned PFF run-blocking grades below 45.0 on initial review, with Henry doing much of the heavy lifting on the ground (112 yards after contact).
